has gloss	eng: AEK-999 Barsuk (Russian : АЕК-999 Барсук) is a Russian machine gun chambered for the 7.62x54mmR round. It is a modernized version of the PKM machine gun. The barrel of AEK-999 is made of the same type of steel used for aviation machine guns for greater durability. The suppressor at the end of the muzzle serves several roles: increasing accuracy, reducing the noise for the gunner, reducing his acoustic signature (400 to 600 meters, depending on the terrain), and eliminating the muzzle flash, which makes the gunner hard to pinpoint and ensures accurate fire at nighttime.
