It is currently one of five major English magazines in China available free — the others are The Beijinger, Thats Beijing, Thats Shanghai, and Time Out. The magazine was one of the first private English language magazines. The magazine itself acts as a source of information for many in the expat and local community. Staff rely on its reader-powered website to access local communities and generate everything from national articles to factual news about local events, venues, and classified ads in China's two largest cities — Beijing and Shanghai.
