The format became widely implemented since the 1987 abolishment of the Fairness Doctrine, and now has become the most widely listened to form of political talk radio, as well as home to nationally prominent and syndicated personalities such as Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Glenn Beck, Bill Cunningham, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Michael Reagan, John Gibson, Lars Larson, Neal Boortz, Michael Medved, Michael Savage, Curtis Sliwa, Tom Sullivan, Michael Smerconish and Fred Thompson.
