However, DNA of an "unknown female" is found in the room. Stella speculates that the DNA may have been transfered from Carters "mistress" and Mrs. Carter might have killed him after finding out about the affair. Sheldon runs the DNA sample through the local and national databases and gets 21 hits relating to various murder and robbery cases in upstate New York, Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey. Soon the boxes of evidence and case files from seven different jurisdictions arrive and Lindsay now has a mountain of evidence to sort through. Meanwhile, Mac and the team soon find themselves on the trail of a potential "killer girlfriend".
