Manufacturers of such equipment typically use a single password, such as "admin" or "password" on all equipment they ship in the expectation that users will change the password when they set the equipment up. Often the default password is restored when the users presses a reset button. Other systems include a canonical account, such as guest that is accessed by a default password that is widely known.
