Though an officer of the crown, Delhi Herald Extraordinary was not a member of the corporation of the College of Arms in London. This office was created in 1911 and was held by Brigadier-General William Eliot Peyton. At the same time, an Assistant Delhi Herald was also appointed, Captain the Honourable Malik Mohammed Umar Haiyat Khan (1875-1944), who was later Major General Nawab Sir Malik Umar Hayat Khan.
