| has gloss | deu: Das Eagle-Syndrom (auch Stylohyoid-Syndrom oder Stylo-kerato-hyoidales Syndrom) wird verursacht durch einen zu langen (> 30 mm) Griffelfortsatz (Processus styloideus) oder durch Kalzifizierung des Ligamentum stylohyoideum. Beim Processus styloideus handelt es sich um einen knöchernen Fortsatz des Schläfenbeines (Os temporale) an der Schädelbasis, der sich ähnlich der Form eines Griffels nach unten erstreckt und in das Ligamentum stylohyoideum übergeht. Dieses Band aus Bindegewebe wiederum endet am Zungenbein (Os hyoideum) und dient dessen Aufhängung. Das Syndrom wurde erstmals 1937 von dem US-amerikanischen HNO-Arzt Watt Weems Eagle (* 1898) beschrieben. |

Objawia się napadowym, silnym, kłującym bólem w uchu, okolicy migdałka, dna jamy ustnej, bocznej części szyi lub kąta żuchwy. Ból może być wywołany przełykaniem, otwieraniem ust, obracaniem głowy, lub badaniem palpacyjnym gardła. Ból trwa kilka sekund lub minut, towarzyszy mu zwykle silny ślinotok. Leczenie jest operacyjne. Jednostkę chorobową opisał jako pierwszy amerykański otorynolaryngolog Watt Weems Eagle w 1937 roku . |
