In 2008, she was awarded the AriZoni Theatre Award of Excellence for Musical Direction, Youth Division. In 1988, she worked to establish the first school for homeless children in the Madison Shelter in Phoenix, Arizona. She published An Elementary Teachers Guide to Multiple Intelligences,Good Apple. Frank Schaffer Publications, Inc. 1997. She also published Teaching Science in a Multicultural World. Fearon. Simon & Schuster. 1996. Note: Her name appears as Dr. Elizabeth Rhodes Offutt in these publications. (Offutt was her married name until 2006) She was included in several editions of Whos Who Historical Society publications: International Whos Who of Professional Educators 2001-2002.
