Her first true debut was in JLX #1 (1996), though in the Amalgam Universe, her first (metafictional) appearance was in JLA: The New Blood #1. Firebird is a combination of DC Comics Fire and Marvel Comics Jean Grey. The name Firebird would be synonymous to Phoenix, Jean Grey's second code name.
