The station was opened on December 23, 2003<ref name="September 28, 2003"/> and is operated by the Utah Transit Authority. As part of the University Line, it has service to downtown Salt Lake City, the University Medical Center, the University of Utah and the Central Station, as well as the Murray/Midvale/University Line, a line which provides service from Sandy to the University of Utah campus.
