It has many physiological actions such as stimulation of guanine nucleotide-binding proteins, phosphoinositide hydrolysis, cyclic AMP accumulation, and activation of specific proto-oncogenes. Its 35GS labelled radioligand [35S]GTPgammaS is used in autoradiography and G-protein binding studies.
