has glosseng: Il Ballo del Doge or "The Doge’s Ball" is an Italian masquerade ball, which forms one of the many events held annually in the Venice Carnaval. The ball itself is held in the Venetian palace of Palazzo Pisani Moretta, on the Grand Canal. The ball's name is derived from the title of the elected heads (Doge, English Duke) who ruled in Venice up until the fall of the republic in the 18th Century. Every year around four hundred guests attend. Guests usually attend in full mask and period costume while participating in various festival activities.
