Durch Landgewinnung wuchs sie mit den 7 Inseln Mahim, Mazagaon, Parel, Worli, Colaba und Old Woman's Island zusammen, die im 20. Jahrhundert schließlich mit den nördlich gelegenen Inseln Salsette und Trombay verbunden wurden.
