has gloss	eng: The Marktkirche ("The Church on the Marketplace") St. Georg and St. Jakobus ("St. George and St. James") is the main Lutheran church in Hanover. It was built in the 14th century and, together with the nearby Old Town Hall, is considered the southernmost exemplar of the "North German brick gothic" (Norddeutsche Backsteingotik) architectural style. The roof and the vaults of the naves were destroyed in an air raid in 1943 and rebuilt in to the same plan in 1952. Even though it's been the church of the Lutheran bishop of Hanover since 1925 it is not called a cathedral.

has gloss	deu: Die evangelisch-lutherische Marktkirche St. Georgii et Jacobi ist die älteste der drei Pfarrkirchen in der Altstadt von Hannover. Der heute noch weitgehend unveränderte Kirchenbau im Stil der Backsteingotik stammt aus dem 14. Jahrhundert. Er ersetzt einen gleichnamigen Vorgängerbau aus dem zweiten Viertel des 12. Jahrhunderts. Mit ihrem 97 Meter hohen, markanten Turm gehört die Marktkirche zu den Wahrzeichen Hannovers. Das Gotteshaus wurde mit der 1536 erlassenen Kirchenordnung lutherisch und ist seit 1925 Predigtkirche des amtierenden Landesbischofs (2010: Hans-Hermann Jantzen ) und des Stadtsuperintendenten des Stadtkirchenverbandes Hannover
