Construction began in 1995 and finished in 1997 to help ease congestion from Wheeling Island to Bridgeport, Ohio. The bridge was built to replace the nearby Bridgeport Bridge which had fallen into disrepair. The bridge is the main bridge to the back channel of the Ohio River at Wheeling, West Virginia. |
