While it is virtually unknown in standalone displays, it has a strong basis in the interconnect for internal displays, as in laptops. OpenLDI is based on the de-facto FPD-Link specification and uses LVDS signalling. The standard was promoted by National Semiconductor, Texas Instruments, Silicon Graphics and others. OpenLDI largely faded from view with the rise of a competing standard, DVI .
