has gloss	eng: The PPM Star Catalogue is the successor of the SAO Catalogue. It contains precise positions and proper motions of 378,910 stars on the whole sky in the J2000/FK5 coordinate system. It is designed to represent as closely as possible the IAU (1976) coordinate system on the sky, as defined by the FK5 star catalogue. Thus, the PPM is an extension of the FK5 system to higher star densities and fainter magnitudes.

Conté les posicions precises i el moviment propi de 378.910 estrelles en el cel complet segons el sistema de coordenades J2000/FK5. Està dissenyat per representar de la manera més fidel possible el sistema de coordenades de la UAI (1976) del cel, tal com es defineix en el catàleg destrelles FK5. Per tant, el MPP és una extensió del sistema FK5 amb major densitat d'estrelles i de magnitud més feble.

has gloss	ita: Il Catalogo PPM o PPM Star Catalogue (Positions and Proper Motions) conteneva fino ad alcuni anni fa le più complete e accurate informazioni riguardanti posizioni, moti relativi e persino un datum astrofisico composto di 378.910 stelle. Fu pubblicato dallAstronomiches Rechen-Institut, a Heidelberg. Il PPM fu considerato la sostituzione dei due cataloghi astronomici precedenti: lAGK3, lAGK4 e il catalogo SAO. Esso li sostituì fornendo dati più precisi inseriti nellobsoleto sistema di coordinate B1950.0 e il più recente J2000/FK5. Gli scarti di questo catalogo riguardo moti, magnitudine stellare, posizioni o classificazione spettrale sono noti da quando detto catalogo fu sostituito dai più moderni Hipparcos e Tycho-2 (quest'ultimo con progressivi emendamenti).
