He favored the marriage of Mary, Queen of Scots, with Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, and was the leader of the band which murdered David Rizzio. This event was followed by his flight into England, where he died. Ruthven wrote a testimony of the murder for Queen Elizabeth, which is kept by the British Museum. |
