| has gloss | eng: The SS Stanwood was a 4158 ton steamship with a cargo of coal which caught fire on 10 December 1939. She was intentionally flooded to put out the fire with the intention to re-float her. On sinking she slipped in to deeper water so the cargo was removed and explosives were used to prevent the wreck becoming a hazard to shipping. |
