Wilson first published in 1983 about a British politicians rise and fall, the latter caused by a relationship with a prostitute. Although the title is the same and there are similarities in the subject-matter, Wilson's book is not the literary basis of the 1989 film Scandal (in fact, both are inspired by the real-life Profumo Affair).
