has glosseng: The shaft effect, also known as elevator effect or shaft jacking, is a phenomenon occurring in shaft-drive motorcycles. While accelerating, the rear suspension stiffens and the machine lifts itself, when decelerating the rear suspension is compressed giving the opposite effect. It is considered to be a drawback to some traditional shaft-drive designs.
