has gloss	eng: The Silent Sentinels were a group of women in favor of womens suffrage organized by Alice Paul to protest in front of the White House during Woodrow Wilsons presidency. The protests started January 10, 1917 and lasted until June 1919 when the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution passed both the House of Representatives and Senate. During those two and a half years, more than a thousand different women picketed every day and night except Sunday.

has gloss	nld: De Silent Sentinels, oftewel Stille Schildwachten, waren een burgerrechten-beweging in de Verenigde Staten van 1917 tot 1919. De organisatie bestond uit ongeveer duizend vrouwen, die van 10 januari 1917 tot juni 1919 zes dagen per week demonstreerden in Washington D.C. voor het Witte Huis, om zo algemeen stemrecht voor vrouwen te verkrijgen. De organisatie werd ontbonden toen president Woodrow Wilson het negentiende amendement van de Amerikaanse Grondwet tekende, waarmee ook vrouwen kiesrecht kregen.
