Information
has glosseng: Springer (born late 1999 or early 2000), officially named A73, is a wild orca from the Northern Resident Community of whales which every summer frequent the waters off the northern part of Vancouver Island, British Columbia (BC). In 2002, a year after her mother had died, Springer was discovered alone and emaciated off the waters of Seattle, Washington, some 250 miles from home. Because the orcas of the region have been studied extensively, experts were able to identify Springer by listening to her distinctive vocal calls and examining photographs of her eye patch. They were also able to quickly determine the location of Springer's remaining family.
