Information
has glosseng: Takadagawa stable (Japanese: 高田川部屋, Takadagawa-beya) is a stable of sumo wrestlers. It was formed in 1974 by former ozeki Maenoyama, and was originally in the Takasago group of stables, but is currently the only non-aligned stable following excommunication from the group in 1998 due to disagreement over group nominations to the Japan Sumo Association's board of directors. As of July 2009 it has 26 wrestlers, making it one of the largest stables in sumo, and it is one of only five stables without any foreign wrestlers, the others being Isenoumi stable, Magaki stable, Nakamura stable and Otake stable. Maenoyama handed over control to former sekiwake Akinoshima in 2009, as he was approaching the mandatory retirement age.
