Mint significa appunto menta e julep è un termine che deriva dallarabo gulab e significa acqua (ab) di rose (gul) e per estensione indica uno sciroppo acquoso dolce e profumato. Quindi mint julep è uno sciroppo dolce di menta, con laggiunta di ghiaccio tritato e Bourbon. Si può pensare il mint julep verosimilmente come ad una granita di menta con Bourbon e con una guarnizione di foglioline di menta (Mentha spicata), allo scopo di stimolare anche l'olfatto. |
