It is a very old species that did not change much for around 100 million years. Adult individuals have three eyes and 11 pairs of legs. Blood contains hemoglobin (same as in humans). In nature, they live in salt water, however not in the sea but in various salt lakes. They are almost never found in an open sea, most likely because of the lack of food and relative defenselessness.
